October 14, 2016 15:07Quando vemos nas primeiras páginas dos jornais a devastação que o tufão Mathew, agora em outubro, produziu no Haiti e nos EUA destruindo cidades, derrubando árvores, arrastando carros e matando centenas de pessoas, os que cremos, nos perguntamos angustiados:
“Deus, onde estavas naquele momento em que a fúria assassina do tufão Mathew se abateu sobre o Haiti e os EUA? Por que não usaste o teu poder para amainar a virulência destruidora daqueles ventos e daquelas águas inimigas da vida? Por que não intervieste, se podias faze-lo?”
“Sequer permitiste aos haitianos, o tempo suficiente para se recuperarem da devastação que significou o terremoto de 2010 onde milhares e milhares morreram soterrados e viram suas cidades e casas destruídas. Por que agora enviaste outro látego para açoitar e matar?”

My body and I are on speaking terms again. After years of anger and silence, we’re re-learning how to be together. It is a truce of sorts.
We started out the best of friends. When I was little, I liked to make it run in my navy blue Nikes with the white swoosh that made me feel so fast. We rode bikes and caught silver wriggling fish. It felt good in the sunshine and so excited in the rain.
It was me and I was it. Strong and fun and wonderful.
But then, the betrayals. I guess you could say my body broke my heart one too many times. So we stopped being friends. And even though I didn’t start it, I finished it.

On our last day in Jasper, Kian and I went for a walk along Pyramid Lake that morning. It was the first weekend of September so it was cool with a bit of mist on the water and the autumn colors were just starting to come in. We headed back to town around 9am and spotted a Black bear in the open forest above the road.
One bear soon became two when the other stepped out from behind a dense clump of Buffalo berries. The berries were ripe at that time so the bears had been drawn in. At first we thought they were a mother and cub but when they were side by side, and then when they were wrestling, we could see they were both the same size.
