Graeme Wood writes a detail profile of his classmate Richard Spencer,who has become an icon for white supremacists.
Spencer must have known that the life he was choosing would get him hated and taunted. But he seemed at most half-aware that it would get him slugged in the face, and completely unaware that it might get him killed. Fifty years ago, George Lincoln Rockwell, the urbane leader of the American Nazi Party, was shot dead in the parking lot of a laundromat, just seven miles from where Spencer lives now. There must be an intellectual thrill in knowing that people might care enough to want to kill you. Spencer seemed unsure whether the thrill would remain worth the risk.

Ataques a grupos políticos de esquerda são a tônica do Vereador
Para muitos, o fascismo e o nazismo são coisas do Século passado. Não são. Eles estão bem vivos e se alimentam da insegurança, do medo, do ódio e da consequente violência que advém a estes males. O Rio Grande do Sul avança perigosamente numa “senda” que leva ao fascismo. A Força Policial do Estado é usada despudoradamente para impingir o medo à todos que brigam por direitos. Um Deputado no exercício de sua função parlamentar foi agredido, algemado e preso. Algo que nem na época da ditadura militar acontecia. E nada acontece com o comando da Brigada Militar, e muito menos com os soldados que fizeram esta agressão. O sinal é claro: Se pode fazer isto com um Deputado, pode fazer com qualquer um. It is a place of church choirs

Over an article in the Daily Telegraph.
England is young men full of testosterone
Who refuse to leave it alone,

Maybe a little bleak.
Choices.
I’m going to leave it to you. Please tell me what you think. And, hopefully, why.
I’m just going to tell you about the picture. The base picture — the portrait — is black and white, converted from a digital color image. An older personal experiment. The layered images are the usual kinds of bits and pieces. In fact, the grass growing through what appears to be concrete is just that. Apparently, that happens everywhere. Not just in New Orleans. I’m sort of kidding about that. Of course it happens everywhere. Nature always wins. Just give her enough time.

London – Dulwich Picture Gallery

I have found a painless way to get here so thought I would go and have a look round. It was founded in 1814, the first Public Gallery in the UK. This picture is from its website, they are building all around it at the moment so no photographic opportunity for me.
A very short walk from the bus stop took me past the grand entrance to Dulwich Park. It was a long walk to see anything so I didn’t go in.
I loved this old fashioned finger post on the other side of the road.
At the entrance to the Gallery garden is a poster for the current Exhibition. This is a self portrait of the artist.
I walked through their handsome gates
and looked across the grass to a sizeable oak tree. The tiny people show you how big it is.
