“Não faças a cadeira dele.” Sexismo, assédio, discriminação e racismo nas universidades portuguesas.
“Tinha estudado numa instituição portuguesa e tinha assistido e vivido situações, implícitas e explícitas, de sexismo. Mas o que encontrou foi bem mais complexo e profundo do que aquilo de que estava à espera. Foram várias as pessoas que entrevistou e que lhe relataram episódios, não só de sexismo, como de assédio sexual. Sem contar com o que assistiu quando se “infiltrou” em congressos, eventos e reuniões universitárias. Tudo isto em contexto académico, tanto entre estudantes, como entre docentes, e de professores para com as alunas, mas sempre nos bastidores e de forma oculta.
Todas essas experiências estão relatadas no livro “Power, Knowledge and Feminist Scholarship: an Ethnography of Academia”, publicado em março pela editora britânica Routledge. A obra, que é uma extensão da tese de doutoramento da investigadora, está…

All I know is that a sincere hope from a kind heart never goes in vain. Maybe it will take some more time, maybe it will consume more of your strength, maybe it will absorb more or your patience, but believe in the power of believing. If it is meant to come to you, it will. And if it is not meant to come to you, something better will. ☺️
“Keep hoping” for that is what keeps you going on in the world which is waiting for you to give up.
