A Perigosa Poesia Movediça de Maria Carolina de Bonis: “Passoa ao Redor do Teu Canto”

Levei um susto quando li os primeiros versos de PASSOS AO REDOR DO TEU CANTO (Editora Patuá): “Entrar no teatro pelas portas dos fundos/Esperar até que cortinas se fechem/Sentar-se numa cadeira detrás do palco/Baixar os olhos e soletrar um verso/Heroico com as formas de adeus”. Pareceu-me algo decalcado do universo da grande Wisława Szymborska, Nobel de 1996, bastante em voga por aqui, pelo menos nas redes sociais (daqui a pouco, provavelmente surgirão os apócrifos).
Mas era um equívoco, pois Maria Carolina de Bonis apresenta uma voz poética muito própria, exercitando uma poesia “entre duas portas”; (“É cíclico o caminho”; o título já indica esse movimento). A Different Set of Mini Doors

Wow, do people love doors!
At my shows this summer, there were so many people who declared their love of doors… and then quickly added “I know it’s strange and maybe I’m an oddball”. Actually the people who said nothing about doors were in the small minority.
The doors they were referring to were my Mini pieces of Italian and French doors, mostly rustic with some type of greenery around them. Charming doors. Romantic doors. Historical doors that piqued the curiosity of who might have passed through them over time.
Yet, I’ve been long interested in another type of door. But rather than charming and romantic, it’s usually urban and often controversial – doors marked with graffiti. They pique my curiosity with many questions too – what’s the motivation behind making these marks, who are these people, and as an artist I wonder about the techniques. I’ve been exposed to a lot of it…

The Ultimate Sushi Burrito Roll-Out

Wide-eyed, mouth agape, and stomach rumbling, I remember the very first time I heard of the concept. Sushi always had a special place in my heart and on my table, from a weekly after school maki roll habit to special birthday dinner requests, often cited as my last meal selection when asked. Despite my youth, I thought that such relentless passion had already exposed me to all the category had to offer. New vegetable, legume, or fruit combinations could shake things up from time to time, but there was nothing earth-shattering to be found in this time-honored edible art form.
That was until I came across sushi burritos. Hulking bundles rivaling the size of a newborn, these babies were instead swaddled in oversized sheets of slick, glistening nori, overstuffed with a rainbow of fresh and widely varied ingredients.
