Finally getting around to this. I’ve been a little busy preparing to close down the house here in Honesdale, while dealing with the day to day. Anyway.
In the Sahel of West Africa (Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal), the women prepare a drink from ginger root called gingembre (ginger in French); delicious, stimulating and maybe, depending on the strength, eye popping 
Our family loves it so I decided to make a batch for Easter. We’re not in France and I didn’t want to disappoint ourselves and the food with a sweetened, fruity, “wine” from some of our States who have convinced themselves that wine can be made anywhere, including Pennsylvania, because of those handy dandy grape concentrate pouches. Cringe.
I sliced up about 6 “hands” of ginger, skin on, then chopped them in the food processor. Actually, next time I will grate them. I think that’s more authentic but I was lazy…

For someone whose childhood began in 1951, the year 2017 is the far fucking future. Sorry about the inappropriate word, but hey, that’s part of the relentless pace of change. We’re now allowed to use “bad words” in print.
I don’t think young people today can even imagine what a horrendous social offense it was to say fuck in the 1950s, much less write it down. If you could understand you might know what this essay is all about.

Em carta de 14 páginas escrita do complexo médico penal de Pinhais, o ex-ministro José Dirceu analisa o cenário atual do País, defende guinada à esquerda do PT e critica o governo de Michel Temer; na missiva redigida antes da decisão do STF que revogou sua prisão preventiva de quase dois anos, Dirceu diz que o golpe contra a democracia está fracassando; “Hoje a verdade vem à tona: um presidente repudiado por 80% dos brasileiros, um programa de reformas que é uma regressão social e política, um Congresso em pânico e uma mídia que assiste ao fracasso de sua guerra midiática contra o PT, Lula e o governo Dilma”, diz; Dirceu disse também que as delações da Lava Jato são “forçadas, ilegais fruto das prisões preventivas, ameaças de pena sem direito a responder em liberdade ou progredir”; “É delação ou prisão perpétua”
