Former employees of The Oregon Trail production team from Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation (MECC), including the game’s co-creator Don Rawitsch, have donated a collection of materials dictating the history of the company from 1973 to 1996 to The Strong Museum in New York.

The donated collection includes hundreds of pieces of internal documents, software, and press clippings. The Oregon Trail was inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame earlier this year in The Strong Museum in recognition for it being the most influential educational game of all time. MECC is well known for helping integrate educational games into the grade school curricula, having created over 300 titles that were then used in schools nationwide.

Earlier this week, The Strong Museum also received the desk from the Florida home of video game pioneer Ralph Baer. You can check out that story here.
