PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Europe Lifetime Sales – April 2016 Update

VGChartz’ William D’Angelo writes: “Looking at the total sales of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U in Europe in April shows how much the PlayStation 4 has dominated in Europe and has only grown its massive lead month after month. It has sold 1.88 times more units than the Xbox One and Wii U combines
The PlayStation passed the 16 million mark. The PlayStation 4 has sold 16.22 million units lifetime in Europe, the Xbox One 5.56 million units, and the Wii U 3.08 million units.
Taking a look at the marketshare, the PlayStation 4 tops the other two platforms combined. The PlayStation 4 has 65 percent market share, the Xbox One sits at 22 percent, and the Wii U 13 percent.

MSAB Introducing Online Training Portal and Software Updates
MSAB has just launched an online training portal for customers. Complementing existing classroom training, users can now go online and access on-demand tutorials, recordings of webinars and details of live online training in the future.
Updated software versions for MSAB Kiosk & Tablet are now available, as well as XAMN Horizon. XAMN Horizon v1.0 is fully compatible with v7 XRY files and has also been updated to a 64Bit version for enhanced performance to process up to 100 XRY files for List, Connection, Timeline, Geographic and Conversation Views.
1. New Online Training Portal

2. XAMN Horizon v1.0 Released

Analytics e IoT: Informação valiosa de tudo

Embora a informação sempre tenha existido, ela muitas vezes está inacessível, incompleta ou até mesmo, quando visível, parece não fazer sentido por si só. Novas tecnologias surgem e o Big Data, assim como os desafios que o permeiam – análise, captura, curadoria, pesquisa, compartilhamento, armazenamento, transferência, visualização e privacidade dos dados – está cada vez mais em evidência. É o volume de informações crescendo exponencialmente.
Em suas recentes previsões para 2016, o Gartner ressalta que tudo na chamada malha digital – que nada mais é que a união de dispositivos móveis, wearables (tecnologias para vestir), sensores da Internet das Coisas (IoT) e outros dispositivos que são utilizados para interação entre pessoas – produz, utiliza e transmite informação. Os dados vêm de todos os lados, de diversas fontes, podem ser extraídos de textos, áudios e vídeos, mas também incluem informações sensoriais e contextuais, disponíveis nas redes sociais, por exemplo. Estima-se que, ainda em 2016, 6,4 bilhões de “coisas” conectadas estarão em uso, sendo que em 2020 esse número deve saltar para 20,8 bilhões.
O dilúvio de informações nesse cenário 100% conectado parece caótico. Tudo na era Internet das Coisas gera dados. Aparelhos de pressão com chip, informando o estado do paciente diretamente para o médico e alimentando seu prontuário eletrônico; vagas públicas de estacionamentos com QR Codes que permitam o controle das vagas ocupadas e o registro dos pagamentos; sensores na rede de transmissão elétrica fornecendo em tempo real o status do consumo, índices de desperdício e pontos de falta de energia; sensores com tecnologia RFID para saber se um enfermeiro, médico ou funcionário de um hospital lavou suas mãos antes de entrar em contato com o paciente; e até mesmo semáforos conversando entre si e com os veículos para melhorar o controle do tráfego.
A questão é: como tirar proveito deste volume estrondoso de dados não estruturados, dispersos em inúmeras bases e provenientes de “n” fontes? As avançadas ferramentas de business intelligence (BI), também chamadas Analytics, graças à sua habilidade de utilizar dados, análises e raciocínio sistemático, são uma boa saída para lidar e tornar útil esse enorme volume de informação.
Voltando aos exemplos acima de aplicações IoT, as informações disponibilizadas pelos avançados aparelhos de pressão, poderiam ser de grande valia para políticas de saúde pública. Juntamente com dados dos hospitais, informações demográficas, índices relacionados à procura de medicamento para hipertensão nas farmácias no entorno, podem ser transformadas com o apoio do analytics em estatísticas extremamente úteis, permitindo descobrir, inclusive, maior incidência de pressão alta em determinada região. As descobertas permitem orientar medidas corretivas, ações educativas, aprimorar o controle da quantidade de sódio na água e uma série de outras iniciativas.
Isso só é possível por que as ferramentas de BI são capazes de extrair e realizar um primoroso trabalho analítico e inteligente em cima de grandes volumes de dados, estruturados ou não, coletados e armazenados por inúmeras outras tecnologias de altíssimo desempenho. Estamos falando do cruzamento de uma infinidade de dados, nos ambientes interno e externo, para gerar relatórios e dashboards extremamente visuais e interativos, com insights valiosos para a tomada de decisão, seja ela qual for.
Enfim, informações vindas de todos os lados compõem esse universo. E mesmo o que, em um primeiro momento, pareça invisível ou impalpável pode de alguma forma ser útil, se lapidado. Investir em inteligência analítica e transformar simples dados em informações valiosas é com certeza uma das melhores formas de se tirar proveito deste mundo tão conectado.

Sony Forecasts PS4 Sales Will Reach 60 Million By April 2017

Sony Corporation has posted a forecast for its financial year ending March 31, 2017, and projected it will sell 20 million PlayStation 4 consoles in this period.
This, according to Sony, represents an 8.3 percent rise in overall sales compared to the previous year. It believes “PS4 software sales including sales through the network” and “PS4 hardware unit sales” will both contribute to the overall increase.

Currently, total PS4 sales are believed to be around 40 million units. With the projected sales included, this would bring the PS4’s global sales to 60 million.
By comparison, the PlayStation 3 has sold more than 80 million units worldwide as of November 2013, which was seven years after its initial launch.
The PS4 has been available for three years.
In February 2016, analysts said the PS4 will go on to sell more than 100 million units worldwide before its lifecycle is over. This is a milestone that only five other consoles have reached.
