A Inmetrics quer dar um salto em seu faturamento. A brasileira planeja ver suas receitas saltarem de R$ 100 milhões para US$ 1 bilhão em um intervalo de cinco anos. A empresa pretende atingir a meta ambiciosa surfando a onda de Internet das Coisas.

Para isso, a provedora criou o Konker, um projeto que tem como base uma plataforma poderosa de análise e controle.

A ideia nasceu a partir de um algoritmo que a empresa desenvolveu para um de seus clientes e conseguia processar nada menos que 50 mil ações por segundo. Como as linhas de código se provaram bastante robustas, a empresa passou a validar a possibilidade de expandir seu uso para aplicações de IoT.

“Queremos ser um dos principais players globais de Internet das Coisas”, afirma Pablo Cavalcanti, CEO da Inmetrics. O executivo cita que a ambição é criar uma espécie de “Facebook das Coisas”, ou seja, ter um ambiente onde a definição de quais equipamentos se conectarão entre si seja uma tarefa tão simples quanto enviar um convite de amizade pela rede social criada por Mark Zuckerberg.

Adriano Roberto de Lima, diretor de inovação e um dos líderes da iniciativa, observa que os projetos de IoT, atualmente, enfrentam problemas como tirar esses esforços do ambiente de experimentação para um contexto de produção.

O plano com a Konker é ajudar as empresas a fazerem essa transição e estar forte quando o mercado de Internet das Coisas se consolidar. “Entre dois e cinco anos, esse mercado vai se agigantar”, projeta Cavalcanti, citando que a companhia já abriu diálogo com cerca de seis potenciais clientes no Brasil.

A Inmetrics tem feito testes de sua plataforma. Além disso, nas próximas semanas, Lima e uma equipe de seis pessoas viajarão para o Vale do Silício (Estados Unidos), onde passarão dois meses amadurecendo o projeto, além de criar diálogo com potenciais parceiros e investidores.

O nome do projeto é inspirado na palavra Konke, que significa “tudo” no idioma Zulu. O projeto nasce com grande possibilidade de virar um spin off em breve. Isso porque o modelo operacional distinto da “empresa mãe”.

A Inmetrics atua com serviços, com grande foco em rotinas de teste de software, que respondem por quase metade dos R$ 100 milhões que a empresa pretende faturar em 2016. O restante da receita vem de iniciativas orientadas ao aumento da eficiência de TI de seus clientes. Fundada em 2002, possui cerca de 600 colaboradores e operações em São Paulo, Barueri, Santiago do Chile e Bogotá.

The creator of Revive, a tool that allows VR games for Oculus Rift to be played on HTC’s Vive headset, has released an update that bypasses the Rift’s DRM entirely and lets users pirate its software.

On May 22, Oculus released an update that introduced “platform integrity checks” which, among other things, closed the loophole allowing Revive to make Rift games compatible with Vive. Revive’s developer, however, has found a workaround that bypasses Oculus’ ownership check completely.

“This is my first success at bypassing the DRM,” reads an update on the Revive subreddit. “I really didn’t want to go down that path. I still do not support piracy, do not use this library for pirated copies.”

Speaking to Motherboard the developer, who identifies as Libre VR, said he didn’t design Revive to pirate games, but noted that people could use it for such a purpose, should they want to.

He added that if he is able to find a workaround that allows Rift games to be played on Vive without bypassing ownership checks entirely, he will implement it. According to Libre VR, he would like to work with Oculus to allow people to play games on both devices without circumventing the ownership check.

Following the release of its update, Oculus explained that the Revive tool wasn’t being specifically targeted.

“Our latest software update included several new features, bug fixes, and security upgrades, including an update to our entitlement check that we added to curb piracy and protect games and apps that developers have worked so hard to make,” its statement said. “This update wasn’t targeted at a specific hack.

“When we first learned about hacks that modify our software to interfere with the security, functionality, and integrity of the Oculus ecosystem, and allow games to run outside the scope of our QA, testing and support, we immediately notified the community that we will not be supporting or maintaining the long-term usability or quality of hacked software.

“We take the security, functionality and integrity of our system software very seriously and people should expect that hacked games won’t work indefinitely as regular updates to content, apps and our platform may break the hacks.”

Up until now, no company in the world has had the capability of breaking into “burner, pre-paid, throw-away” phones and non USB OTG Android phones.
