Latest TMNT: Out Of The Shadows Trailer Raises The Stakes

2014’s reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films was met with mixed reception. While some had concerns about the turtles’ character design or how Shredder was handled, many fans and critics agreed that it was an entertaining film despite its flaws. The sequel to that film, TMNT: Out of the Shadows, looks like the filmmakers are aiming to course-correct the things that went wrong in the first movie while continuing to inject even more fun as evident by the latest trailer.
The upcoming film introduces mainstay characters like Krang, Casey Jones, Bebop, and Rocksteady. It also looks like the turtles are flirting with the idea of experimenting with the ooze that transforms two humans in to Bebop & Rocksteady, which causes some conflict among the brothers. Smite Xbox One/PS4 Patch Adds Optional 60 FPS Mode, New God With Wolf Companion

The latest patch for the console versions of Smite arrives this week, and it introduces both a new character and a new option to make gameplay smoother.
The 3.5 update, which is out now on Xbox One and arrives tomorrow, April 12 on PS4, introduces Skadi, the goddess of winter. Her passive sees her come to battle with a wolf by her side. One of her abilities allows her to toggle between having the wolf (named Kaldr) attack or enter a form where he regenerates health and is immune to attacks.
Whether or not Skadi is your cup of tea, a new option is now available to everyone that allows you to play the game at 60 frames per second. This is enabled by turning on the “Enable Upcoming Features” setting in the Options menu. The previous feature that could be accessed by doing this, a grid layout for character selection, is now enabled for everyone (except for when playing on training maps).
Developer Hi-Rez Studios also introduces the usual slate of new achievements, item tweaks, and god balancing. Most notably, Hercules gets a solid buff as his base movement speed and attack damage are increased; Khepri’s health is lowered; and Serqet gets buffed with a cooldown reduction on Deathbane and a damage increase for Cobra’s Kiss.
Finally, several new skins are being introduced, including Ordo Solarus Amaterasu, Thunder’s Roar Raijin, Hellrider Chiron, and K-9 Anubis (pictured above), among others. You can get a look at those along with the full patch notes on Smite’s official website.
As noted above, you can try out all of this for yourself now on Xbox One, and on PS4 tomorrow, APril 12. The reason for the PS4 version lagging behind is because Trophies are being added to the game. Hi-Rez says the delay on the patch’s release is “a one-time thing” and that future updates “should be in parity” across the two consoles.

Microsoft revela finalistas da fase brasileira da Imagine Cup 2016

Final da etapa nacional da competição de tecnologia da empresa acontece em 28/4 em Belo Horizonte. País ganhou final mundial em 2015 com projeto da USP.
A Microsoft revelou nesta segunda-feira, 11/4, os finalistas da fase brasileira da sua Imagine Cup 2016, que recebeu um total de 245 projetos inscritos locais neste ano. Para a 14ª edição da sua competição, a empresa selecionou nove finalistas, sendo três para cada uma das seguintes categorias: Games, Cidadania e Inovação.
A final nacional da Imagine Cup 2016 acontece no próximo dia 28 de abril em Belo Horizonte e escolherá um vencedor por categoria. Desses três vencedores, o projeto considerado mais inovador pela Microsoft terá a chance de disputar a final mundial da competição em julho, em Seattle, e concorrer ao prêmio de 50 mil dólares para o primeiro lugar – os vice-campeões receberão 10 mil dólares e os que ficarem em 3º lugar ganharão 5 mil dólares.
Vale lembrar que o Brasil venceu a edição 2015 da Imagine Cup com a equipe E-FitFashion, da USP, que criou um software chamado Clothes for Me, que simplifica o processo de compra on-line de roupas sob medida.

SteelSeries aims Apex M500 mechanical keyboard at thrifty eSports competitors

There’s big money in esports, so it stands to reason there’s big money in esports-branded peripherals, right? That’s the logic hardware companies are following, anyway. Case in point: SteelSeries and its new Apex M500, a mechanical keyboard that it says is tournament-ready.
Beneath the buzzwords and phrases like “esports” and “tournament-ready” that SteelSeries throws around in its press release is a mechanical plank with Cherry MX Red key switches. Choice of key switch is a personal thing, though if limiting the choice to just a single kind, SteelSeries is probably right in choosing Cherry MX Reds. The Reds are one of two common linear switches (the other being Black). They have a low actuation force that many gamers like and are non-clicky, lacking the audible “click” feedback that Cherry MX Blues offer (a favorite of this editor). Though the Apex M500 is aimed at gamers, and esports players in particular, SteelSeries refrained from being too bold (or gaudy) with its design.
“Products shouldn’t look like they came through a portal from the future. We designed the Apex M500 to get the job done. The sleek and minimalistic design gives you everything you need in a professional gaming keyboard, without any of the fluff,” SteelSeries explains. If you pay attention to hardware trends, you’ll notice this isn’t the first mechanical gaming keyboard to go stripped-down: Logitech just did the same thing with the G610.
Minimalism really is the key here. The Apex M500 uses a standard key layout without any dedicated macro keys or other fancy gaming amenities, like an integrated LCD or phone/tablet dock like Logitech’s G910 Orion Spark. There’s also just a single color backlight option (blue) with three different breathe settins and four levels of brightness.
According to SteelSeries, the Apex M500 is “built like a tank” with tough plastics and a steel back plate for reinforcement. That translates into 2.74 pounds of heft, which probably isn’t enough to throw across the room in a fit of rage with the hope of it surviving the ordeal.
Though there are no dedicated macro keys, you can reassign keys and create macros with the SteelSeries Engine Software, including on-the-fly macros. You can then store your settings in an unlimited number of profiles.
Perhaps the best thing the SteelSeries Apex M500 has going for it is price—it’s available now for $99.99 (€119.99).
