ISRAEL CAUGHT IN ITS OWN LIES

The Rafah events are also outstanding in demonstrating how the Israeli genocidal campaign has nothing to do with preserving the lives of Jews, not even of its own soldiers. It is rather a desperate case of racist “white supremacy” going psychotic.

Indiscriminate Israeli Bombing of Rafah, from Refugees in UNRWA Schools to Ambulances

In the bloody genocidal Israeli rampage against Gaza’s people – the massacre in the city and refugee camp of Rafah on the southern end of the Gaza strip was the worst, and it still continues. Just as I write this line on Monday morning (August 4, 2014), Israel declared a humanitarian ceasefire – but it will not include Rafah. So the people of Rafah will not be allowed even to dig their dead from under the ruins or treat the wounded or get some water to drink.

The Rafah massacre is also the most…

Masks

Masks

I wholeheartedly recommend each of you try something different in your creative process. This series is just that for me. In fear of explaining the photo series too much I will keep the explanation to the following brief phrases:

“masking to hide”
“growth”
“time passing”
“trying to love yourself without having substance to love”

I feel myself trying to remove these masks to be who I am. The only problem is that these masks are perfect ways to hide the insecurities. When I try to take these masks off, I’m unsure of what I see (or how I feel). I try to love myself but I end up reaching through a lack of substance only to find a void or emptiness. Eventually, this void is ready to be filled and rebuilt.

These are the images that followed. I know the images are really weird but whatever, ya know?

Dear Cancer Part 4

Dear Cancer,

Usually I would start penning a letter to someone significant with “how are you?” or perhaps “hope this finds you well”, but both of these conventional niceties seem wholly inappropriate when writing to you. I don’t particularly want to know how you are doing and I certainly don’t want to encourage your well-being. It has now been three years to the day since we kicked off this unusual relationship of ours and I figured I should mark this latest and unexpected cancerversary by recording some feelings and reflections.

Three years. Who’d have thought it? Three years ago today I was lying on a trolley in an American ER being put through a battery of initial investigations. I was in horrendous pain. My kidneys had given up the ghost. I left my dignity at the automatic doors of the hospital as I underwent the necessary intimate examinations. Scared doesn’t…

Deep source network, experience underpin AP reporting in Gaza

The Associated Press team in Gaza is reporting the news as they live it, working quickly — under extremely difficult conditions — to verify and debunk information for AP’s customers around the world. Senior Managing Editor Michael Oreskes lauded their efforts in a recent memo to staff:

It was late Sunday afternoon [July 20] and a brief cease-fire had silenced a raging battle in the Gaza neighborhood of Shijaiyah. Dozens of Palestinians were dead, hundreds wounded and thousands fleeing. In a matter of minutes, the battle would resume.

AP Gaza photographer Hatem Moussa, touring the area, caught sight of someone he knew from Gaza’s Civil Defense who was searching for bodies and followed him into a badly damaged building. From under the rubble came the barely audible sound of a family trapped: A woman crying for help alongside her husband, 7-year-old niece and three dead relatives.

“I’m here under the…
