The call of the mountains beckoned my nomadic soul and restless feet. A day long drive, took me to the foothills of the mountains, away from the mediocrity of a city dweller’s life.
Next morning, I was greeted by warm sunshine. Fully rested, I checked my backpack for all essentials and began my hike. I have always found the mountains alluring. They calm my muddled mind. The ascent was uneventful. Eventually after a day long trek, I reached the summit by early evening.
The sight that welcomed me was surreal. The beautiful imagery of that moment is still vividly etched in my mind. Its infinite and all-encompassing space was so gratifying. The tantalizing sunlight appeared to be giving a parting kiss, to the snow-clad peaks, embracing the horizon in a crimson blush. The white billowy clouds drifted gently in the purple heavens. The eventide mountain air whispered scattered tales…

Hoje me mandaram os vídeos e áudios de um caso de atenção violenta ao parto numa grande cidade brasileira. Não acho razoável que o nome do profissional seja citado por nós, e acredito que poderei explicar as razões para essa discrição nas linhas que se seguem abaixo.
Quando eu ouvi os diálogos na sala de parto fiquei espantado, mas talvez de uma forma diferente da maioria das pessoas. Em verdade, eu me senti como um cicerone de um campo de refugiados que mostra aos visitantes as condições precárias do lugar onde os exilados vivem. Para mim, algo banal, para os visitantes cenas de horror. Assim, as cenas de violência verbal e abusos que eu escutei nada mais eram do que o padrão da assistência ao parto de que eu fui testemunha por tantos anos. Meu espanto não era pelo conteúdo, mas pelo fato de que ainda existem expressões dessa…
