In the first four months of 2017, severe floods isolated hundreds of Peruvian towns, leaving thousands of families homeless and destroying over 100 bridges. The waters have swept away bridges and roads. The Amazon, Marañón, Ucayali and Napo rivers, in the Amazon region, are under red alert because owing to a critical level of flow and danger of overflow. According to the World Bank, damage to the environment has an economic cost of 3.9 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), and mainly affects the poorest populations. In spite of te high vulnerability to human-made natural disasters, the national Social Watch report finds tenacious resistance to more sustainable practices by those who argue that environmental regulation is an obstacle to economic growth and corporate profits.

Marijuana-related businesses in California could play a role in shaking up the U.S. banking sector. Earlier this month, California's state treasurer John Chiang called a meeting to explore the issue of banking access for businesses in the marijuana industry — and the possibility of doing it through a publicly-owned bank.

Chiang said that interest in public banking was gaining traction due to "a deep public dissatisfaction with our private banking system."

Productores y productoras  de varias regiones del país se encuentran en la plaza grande para realizar una marcha por las principales  calles de la ciudad de Quito y dirigirse a la Corte Constitucional para ver el estado de las demandas anticonstitucionales  presentadas por la FECAOL en contra de la entrada de las semillas transgénicas con motivo de investigación dentro de la ley de semillas y agro diversidad. De la misma manera se realizó una cuarta demanda por parte de la CONAIE, en contra de esta ley aprobada el 1 de Junio.
FECAOL, el Colectivo Agroecológico del Ecuador, la Campaña consumo responsable y el meSSe estuvieron presentes activamente en el evento en defensa de nuestras semillas  que constituyen el patrimonio de los pueblos.
