A tatuagem é mesmo uma forma de arte, e o britânico Mike Boyd é mais um a comprovar isso. Com um estilo impressionante, inspirado principalmente no cubismo de Pablo Picasso, os desenhos do tatuador podiam muito bem ser expostos em galerias.
Mike vive em Londres, mas está sempre viajando para entrar em contato com novas formas de tatuagem e incorporar o que vê ao seu próprio traço. “Quero ver tudo que eu puder, desenvolvendo meu estilo em novas formas para ter vantagem numa indústria tão competitiva”, diz.
Cores vivas, traços retos, geometria e elementos da cultura pop se misturam nos desenhos de Mike, que diz adorar quando as pessoas veem sua arte com um misto de estranhamento e curiosidade. “Eu amo as justa posições esquisitas de cores e ângulos, e o fato de que mesmo assim os desenhos são reconhecíveis. Eu gosto de que… não pareça exatamente certo”, define.

Black cats

This critter is our Little Cat. She’s the one with problems. We found her in the street outside when she was tiny, had hardly any fur, was full of worms, with a ruptured bowel, and suffering from acute malnutrition that affected her motricity and sense of balance. She had two operations on her bowel, which seem to have been more or less successful except for a bit of incontinence. The eczema is chronic and periodically, her fur still drops out. All of it, right up to her shoulders.
As you can see from the weird position of that back leg, she has difficulty managing four limbs. Her legs don’t bend in the right places so she plods, flat-footed and very noisily and extremely un-cat like. Because she has lost her sense of balance, she falls out of windows, off walls and out of trees. For the first couple of years…

THE TISHMAN REVIEW is a literary magazine that publishes four times a year with a current call for submission open for the October issue. Submissions of short stories, micro and flash fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, book reviews, craft essays and art are welcome. “The Tishman Review pays all of our text contributors, according to the genre. Poems are paid on a sliding scale between $10 and $25 per poem. Creative nonfiction and fiction is paid a minimum of $10.00 for a piece under 1000 words and for a piece over 1000 words at .01 cents per word. Craft talk articles are paid at .01 cents per word. While we realize this is a small payment, our hope is (with continued support and growth) to be able to increase the amount we pay.” Deadline September 15 for October issue. Details HERE.
